Vishnudol located on the bank of the Gaurisagar tank, the dol is a historic site dedicated to Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities in Hinduism. This ancient temple was built during the Ahom period by Queen Phuleswari Devi, the chief queen of Ahom King Siva Singha, also known as Sutanpha, who ruled from 1714 to 1744 CE.
The temple features a garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum), an antaraia (small antechamber), and a mukhamandapa (outdoor hall). Its sikhara (temple tower) has a domical shape with intricate honeycomb designs. The exterior walls of the temple are beautifully decorated with carvings of various Hindu deities, showcasing the rich artistic heritage of the period. Vishnudol stands as a testament to the architectural and cultural achievements of the Ahom dynasty and remains a significant place of worship and historical interest in the region.
