Swahid Peoli Phukon Park

Swahid Peoli Phukon Park is a small, peaceful park dedicated to the memory of Peoli Phukon, a famous martyr from Assam. This park is located on the eastern bank of the well-known Sivasagar Bor Pukhuri, where Peoli Phukon was buried.

The park features a large statue of Swahid Peoli Phukon, reminding visitors of his bravery and sacrifice. Peoli Phukon played a significant role in Assam's history. In 1830, he was hanged by the British after being found guilty of planning to drive them out of Assam. His courageous actions made him a hero among the Assamese people.

Interestingly, Peoli Phukon's father, Badan Borphukon, is known for bringing the British to Assam. Despite his father's actions, Peoli Phukon chose to fight against British rule, highlighting his strong sense of justice and patriotism.
