Shiva Doul: One of the tallest shiva temple in India

Sivasagar Shiva Doul, also known as Sivasagar Shiva Temple, is a historic temple located in the town of Sivasagar in Assam, India. It was built in 1734 A.D. by Queen Ambika, who was also known as Madambika. It stands as the tallest temple in the entire state of Assam. The temple is known for its remarkable architecture and cultural significance.

One of the unique features of the temple is the golden koloshi (dome) that sits atop the main temple structure, measuring 8 feet in height. This golden koloshi adds to the grandeur of the temple and is a sight to behold.


The temple's impressive dimensions include a height of 180 feet and a breadth of 195 feet, making it an imposing structure in the region. Despite its age, the temple is still an active place of worship, with daily rituals and prayers being offered.



One of the highlights of Sivasagar Siva Doul is its collection of rare sculptures. These sculptures are not only of great artistic value but also hold significant historical and religious importance. Visitors to the temple can admire these sculptures and learn about the rich cultural heritage of Assam.
