Assam Tai Museum, Sivasagar

The Assam Tai Museum is located on the west bank of Sivasagar Pukhuri, a historic tank in the town of Sivasagar, Assam. This museum was inaugurated on January 31, 1992, and has since become an important center for preserving and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Tai people.

The museum’s collection is diverse and fascinating. It includes Tai books, which are rare and valuable resources for anyone interested in learning about Tai history and literature. Visitors can also see traditional garments that were worn by the Tai people, as well as a variety of ornaments and weaponry used during the Ahom rule. The Ahoms were a significant dynasty in Assam, and their influence is evident in many of the items displayed in the museum.

In addition to these historical artifacts, the Assam Tai Museum also features decorative items that were used by the Ahoms. These items provide a glimpse into the everyday lives and artistic sensibilities of the Tai people during the Ahom period.
